Gotcha !

Most golfers have established handicaps so when playing a game with someone who is a much better golfer – you are able to compete with him by using your handicap score to equalize the disparity in skills.  It is a standard joke among weekend golfing groups that the players would rather have 3 or 4 “gotchas” during each round instead of using handicaps.  The theory is that when your competitor least expects it you can give him a good “goose” in the butt just as he’s swinging at the ball in order to completely destroy his game.  The worse part, for him, is that he never knows when the next “gotcha: is coming.
.
Of course, since golf is a gentleman’s game …….. the “gotcha” legend makes a good story but I don’t think it has ever been put into practice.  If, however, you are determined to use this technique in order to beat your golfing buddy – then the cartoon I have drawn may give you some ideas as to how to do it.

My Favorite Granddaughter

My wife (Sue) and I have been richly blessed by having two of the most loving granddaughters in the world.  This cartoon is of my “favorite” granddaughter, Kristen Padilla.  I’m positive that Kristen’s sister, Kim Beasley, will be included in this Blog before long and at that time ….. she will become my “favorite” granddaughter.

My Favorite Granddaughter - Kristen

Kristen graduated with honors from Quachita Baptist University  in Arkadelphia, Arkansas and then received a Master of Divinity degree from Beeson Theological Seminary at Birmingham, Alabama.   In March of this year she married Dr. Osvaldo Padilla who is a professor at the seminary ( Thank you Lord ….. we were beginning to think  you would never give her a husband).
.
Often, when grandchildren graduate from college they pretty much write-off their grandparents as “old fogies” and the only time they check in with them is to see if they are included in the Will.  But not our Kristen.  She faithfully calls every week to check on us and even wants us to come visit them.
.
Kristen currently works as a journalist for the Alabama Baptist Newspaper and is an excellent writer.  We are so proud of all she has accomplished and will love her forever and ever.
.
Now before I get notes of criticism for playing favorites with my grandchildren, I want to mention that we also have three grandsons and we are just as proud of them as we are of Kristen and Kim.  Ever since  the grandchildren were old enough to understand, I would call each one to me and whisper in their ear that they were my favorite.  That worked fine for a while until they finally realized I was telling each one of them that they were the most special one of all.  Oh well ….. all good things must come to an end.
.
Love ya Kris!  Papa Sam

The Grip

Gripping the golf club properly is one of the first things you will be taught when taking up the game of golf.  Two of the basic grips are known as the Vardon grip and the Baseball grip.  There are other variations of these two.
.
I have spent years studying various ways to grip a club as a means of improving your score.  After much trial and error along with intensive research, I have developed what I call the OctoGrip.  Using this gripping technique will stabilize your golf swing and it is guaranteed to cut at least 8 strokes off your score.
.
I have a close friend named Ted Sorich  in Tucson, Arizona who claims to be a reincarnation of Arnold Palmer but who, in real life, is in dire need of help with his golf game.  I will be asking him to field test my gripping technique.  If his score does not improve then there is really nothing anyone can do to help him.

Using this cartoon as a promo for your business sales page will undoubtedly improve your ability to reach and retain potential customers.  One suggested message that could be used along with the cartoon is “Want to make money online?  Get a grip on techniques that can make this happen.”

Remote Thermometer

Since my wonderful wife Sue has given me an edict that she is officially retired from cooking for the rest of her life,  I have been spending more time in the backyard stoking up my grill.  Just love to get that mesquite wood smokin’ real good and try different recipes.  Haven’t burned anything to a crisp yet but I will admit that my clothes are beginning to smell like a smoke-stack.
.
This cartoon deals with a remote digital cooking thermometer that one of my kids gave me for a gift.  I can stick the thermometer probe in a hunk of meat ….. go inside and watch TV …. and when the meat reaches the desired temperature,  the unit beeps to let me know that the meat is ready to take off the grill.  Ain’t technology wonderful !
